Lohan began her career at the age of three as a Ford model and commercial kid, making appearances in more than 60 ads for the Gap, Pizza Hut, Wendy's and Jell-O. She made her acting debut in 1996 as the third actress to play Ali Fowler in the TV soap Another World. She played two roles in her first feature film, a remake of The Parent Trap, gaining attention as the new cutie-pie kid actor on the block and winning a handful of child-actor awards to boot. Starring roles in Freaky Friday and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen followed, but it was her lead turn in the witty satire Mean Girls (2004) that helped make Lohan a bankable star — until off-screen and on-set antics sidelined her career, got her publicly dissed by her Georgia Rule co-star Jane Fonda and sent her into rehab just as she was about to film Poor Things with Shirley MacLaine.
